Agriculture Economics & Policy
Agriculture in New York is both condensing and diversifying more and more each year. Cornell Cooperative Extension is a key part of coordinating the economic power of agriculture, preparing people for the new jobs being created, and bringing about the productive lifestyle families and entrepreneurs are seeking as farm owners.
Cornell Cooperative Extension is assisting with:
- Improving marketing channels used by all producers
- Retaining and establishing a net gain of farms and farm jobs
- Diversifing ag. production and related processing entities
- Securing economic development funds and incentive packages for farm-based projects
- Introducing appropriate agriculture technology and alternative energy applications for farms and facilities
- Facilitating local agriculture employee training to minimize employment challenges on farms
- Increasing community-based support for agriculture through media and other public relations channels.
